| Community Education is dedicated to offering reasonable priced, high quality, lifelong learning opportunities for personal and professional growth for everyone in the family. Programs including educational, recreational and social activities are developed allowing residents maximum use of their school facilities. With the support of a well-rounded and very active advisory council, all courses are based on ideas and needs expressed by the community. Over 36,000 brochures are distributed to Yukon and the surrounding areas advertising fall and spring classess and activities. Classes are comprised of a wide variety of interesting and fulfilling subjects promoting fun and self-improvement. Yukon Community Education caters to individuals of all ages. Courses are offered year round in the schools, community buildings and local businesses. Adults may select from computers, crafts, dance, on-line courses, aerobics and a variety of special interest classes. Children's programs include dance, art, gymnastics, tutoring and child care. Youth programs include "Open Door" and ACT. "Open Door" is a before and after-school child care program that utilizes school facilities during the school year, summers and during spring break. "Open Door" provides a safe, secure and fun place for kids as an alternative to being home alone.
